Last week, Regina Daniels faced backlash after sharing a video condemning violence and calling for peace on the first day of the protests. Her video was intended to advocate for a peaceful resolution and to express her concerns about the violence, but it quickly drew criticism.

Critics accused her of being out of touch with the realities of ordinary Nigerians due to her privileged status. They argued that her position might not fully grasp the depth of the frustrations experienced by the average citizen.

In response to the backlash, Regina Daniels clarified on Instagram that her comments were aimed at advocating for better wages for her employees, not seeking public approval. She emphasized her concern for the economic struggles faced by many Nigerians and explained that her intentions were to contribute positively to the conversation.

Surprisingly, Ned Nwoko stepped up to support his wife, lauding her for her wisdom and courage. In a statement, he said, “I commend Gina’s wisdom and strength of character in deciding on her own to sympathize and support Nigerians showing bottled-up frustrations with the apparent hopelessness in the country.

“I must add that the current economic and insecurity problems in Nigeria are a result of decades of bad governance. Please let everyone be peaceful with the protests, as there cannot be any justifications for more loss of lives.

“I have also decided that in the next few days, I will speak and write on a few realistic immediate solutions, especially on economic and insecurity problems facing our nation. As a senator, my bills and motions have been about the people. This is really my passion,” he wrote.
