Lawal Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, has expressed his disappointment with the organizers of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for overlooking him in the Online Social Content Creator category at the ninth edition of the Headies awards. Nasboi, a notable skit maker and singer, voiced his concerns during a recent appearance on the TVC program ESplash. Despite submitting a video for consideration, Nasboi was not acknowledged, while other skit makers who ranked lower than him received nominations. Nasboi firmly asserted that his career had a more successful year in 2022 compared to many other skit makers, and he believes he deserves recognition through at least a nomination, even if he does not win the award.
Nasboi emphasized that AMVCA began including content creators in their awards two years ago, and while he wasn't upset about not being nominated the first time, he strongly believes that he deserved a nomination this time around. According to him, his friend who received a nomination in the first year informed him that they had both submitted their videos to AMVCA for consideration. However, in 2023, Nasboi believes that his content in 2022 was outstanding, encompassing a mix of humor and inspiration, surpassing many of the nominated videos in quality. Seeing the nominations without his name on the list came as a disappointment to him, as he had anticipated at least a nomination, considering his contributions to the industry.
While Nasboi admitted that winning the award would have been great, he stressed that his main desire was to receive a nomination, as he believes he deserved it based on his exceptional content. Nasboi's critique of AMVCA's decision stems from his strong belief in his abilities and the impact of his work throughout the year. As he continues to navigate the world of content creation, Nasboi hopes that his talents and efforts will be recognized and acknowledged by award platforms, further propelling his career to greater heights.
