The singer disclosed that his catchphrase "Zagadat" was inspired by lyrics from 2Face’s ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix, which featured Beenie Man.

In an interview with Capital Xtra, UK, Mr Eazi clarified that he took precautions to avoid copyright issues by not uttering the slang in the exact manner as presented in the song.

In his own words:

“Big shout out to Beenie Man. Beenie Man and 2Face. I got my catchphrase ‘Zagadat’ from their song ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix. From the part, ‘And the Lord say let there be light. Zagazaga za.’ That’s where it’s from, bro.

“I don’t have to give them royalties because I said, ‘Zagadat.’ I didn’t say, Zagazaga za.”
