Plus-sized model, Monalisa Stephen, expressed her displeasure with sensational singer, Teniola "Teni" Apata, for celebrating her weight loss journey on social media. Teni recently surprised Nigerians when she revealed that she had lost 75 pounds without surgery and shared pictures of her trimmed figure. She explained that she decided to lose weight to save her life because her former size was affecting her health.
During a recent episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, Monalisa, a body positivity model, revealed that Teni's statement indirectly set her up for criticism. People started tagging her to the post and advised her to also drop some weight. Monalisa found this offensive and believes that Teni put a target on her back. She likens the situation to when actress Eniola Badmus underwent gastric bypass surgery to lose weight quickly. As a result, Monalisa was also dragged and body-shamed by trolls.
Despite not minding being called "fat," Monalisa detests it when people say that being fat is unhealthy. In her opinion, Teni indirectly set her up for drags by claiming that she lost weight to save her life because her former size was affecting her health. Monalisa is a body positivity advocate and believes that people should be comfortable in their skin regardless of their size.
