Ismaila Mustapha, also known as Mompha, has denied reports of his re-arrest and arraignment by the EFCC on charges of money laundering amounting to N6 billion. Mompha clarified in a live video on Instagram that he had not been arrested as reported. He even danced to Timaya's song "Sweet Us" to demonstrate his freedom. Mompha released a statement titled "Idan was not arrested by EFCC; 33BG is not in EFCC custody," calling on the EFCC to stop conducting a trial by media. He stated that he is currently in Dubai and will appear in court on July 3, 2023.
Mompha’s statement on alleged re-arrest
"IDAN WAS NOT REARRESTED BY EFCC; 33BG IS NOT IN EFCC CUSTODY
Contrary to recent media reports, I, Mompha, want to clarify that I was neither rearrested nor am I in the custody of the EFCC. The claim by the EFCC is laughable because I am currently not in Nigeria. I urge the commission to refrain from this media trial and stop misleading the public. I will appear in court on July 3rd, and it's clear that the EFCC is using my name for cheap media relevance. They should focus on going after corrupt politicians who are impoverishing Nigerians. My family and I are safe and enjoying ourselves in Dubai, away from the harassment of the EFCC and Nigeria's corrupt judicial system."
