May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has taken a firm legal step against Yinka Theisen, the former lover of her brother-in-law, Linc Edochie. In a strongly worded cease-and-desist letter, May accused Yinka of engaging in continuous cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and deliberate defamation aimed at tarnishing her reputation and exposing her to public ridicule.

The legal document, which was issued by her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, outlined a series of alleged malicious online activities carried out by Yinka. According to the letter, Yinka has consistently published posts across various social media platforms that not only spread false information about May but also incite others to do the same, thereby amplifying the harmful impact.

The letter further stressed that Yinka’s actions go far beyond ordinary defamation, amounting to targeted harassment, malicious falsehoods, and coordinated attempts to damage May’s personal and public image. It alleged that the repeated posts were deliberately crafted to ridicule her, undermine her dignity, and subject her to a hostile online environment. These attacks, according to May, have also put her safety at risk, as some of Yinka’s posts or comments reportedly included threats and incitements that could endanger her wellbeing.

May also highlighted in the letter that the defamatory posts have spread widely due to online shares and reposts, multiplying their damaging effects and making the situation more severe. She insists that these actions have caused her serious emotional distress and irreparable harm, both personally and professionally. The letter further notes that Yinka’s online behavior appears to be calculated and malicious rather than accidental or incidental.

As part of her demands, May has ordered Yinka to immediately halt all defamatory publications, retract every post previously made against her, and issue a formal public apology across the same platforms used to spread the alleged falsehoods. Furthermore, she is seeking the payment of a substantial compensation of ₦500 million as damages for the harm inflicted upon her reputation, peace of mind, and safety.

The case has since attracted wide attention online, sparking conversations about the dangers of cyberbullying, the misuse of social media platforms, and the extent to which defamation laws can be enforced in Nigeria’s digital space. While May has chosen to pursue the matter legally, observers are watching closely to see whether Yinka will comply with the demands or challenge the accusations in court.
