Renowned actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared a heartwarming story about Peter Obi's thoughtful gesture during his mother's funeral. In an interview with Afia TV, Kanayo revealed that despite being unable to attend the burial, Peter Obi, then the governor of Anambra State, surprised him by calling and contributing N250k for the funeral expenses.
Kanayo expressed his gratitude, stating, “In 2011, I was to bury my mum and I had many senators I had friends, and I wrote to all of them. Two weeks after the funeral, Peter Obi called me at 1 am in his little voice, o sim ‘nwanne I just got your letter, I know the burial is over, You know I would have come if I had seen the letter’. He sent me exactly the price of a cow, the cow was 250k and that is what he sent to me. But the story here is he was the governor but he had time to call me.”
The actor appreciated the sincerity of Peter Obi's gesture, emphasizing the governor's personal touch despite his busy schedule. The heartfelt contribution of N250k, equivalent to the cost of a cow, left a lasting impression on Kanayo O.
