Nigerian artist, Jaywon, has criticized his colleague, Burna Boy, for asserting that no one paved the way for him in the music industry. In an interview, Jaywon deemed Burna Boy's claim absurd and incorrect, arguing that the African Giant seemed to imply he received no inspiration from anyone throughout his career.
Jaywon contested the notion that there is a distinction between being inspired by someone and having someone pave the way. He questioned where up-and-coming artists would learn from if someone didn't pave the way for them initially.
Reflecting on Burna Boy receiving a 30BG chain from Afrobeat artist Davido, Jaywon emphasized the significant impact such gestures have on an artist's career.

In conclusion, Jaywon asserted that it costs nothing for an artist to give credit to those who paved the way for them, acknowledging the predecessors who existed before their time.
