In a candid revelation, the seasoned movie star, Angela Okorie, opened up about the harrowing experience of grappling with intense Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the aftermath of surviving a vicious assassination attempt on her life three years ago.
The Nollywood luminary, known for her captivating performances, recounted the terrifying incident when she fell victim to unknown assailants in December 2019. Miraculously emerging with her life intact, Angela Okorie shared the profound impact the traumatic event had on her well-being.
Revealing the extent of her ordeal, the veteran actress disclosed that she grappled with insomnia and acute stress disorder in the aftermath of the attack. Constantly living under the shadow of the traumatic event, she found herself requiring continuous protection for her safety.
Participating in a podcast hosted by Iyabo Ojo, Angela Okorie went on to assert that the assault on her life could potentially have been orchestrated by an individual within the movie industry itself.
In her own words, she shared, “I went through hell. We were actually coming from a show when we were attacked by gunmen. It was very traumatizing. For three good years, it was hard for me to have a relationship or do anything.
“I had PTSD. And then I developed insomnia, shock disorder, and all that. I had to always move around with security. It’s so embarrassing because there are some places you want to go to that you don’t need security but because I was traumatized, I don’t know who was about to shoot me again. So I had to.
“It was an assassination attack sponsored by someone in the movie industry. It’s from the industry because we were coming from a show.”
