During break time, I would just stand in front of the class and start making people laugh," Carter Efe shares, highlighting the natural comedic talent that has been a part of his personality from an early age.
The ‘Machala‘ singer reflects on his background in tailoring, revealing that his passion for art led him to pursue tailoring at a certain point in his life. Despite being a London tailor named ‘Obioma,’ Carter Efe's heart remained devoted to creativity and the arts.
“When I was learning tailoring, sometimes I would lie to my boss that I was sick and go to shoot a skit. Then I will come back in the afternoon. He still punished me. He would tell me to kneel. I would kneel till the end of the day," he recounts, shedding light on the challenges he faced while balancing his passion for skit making and his responsibilities as a tailor.
Carter Efe shares a pivotal moment in his journey when Broda Shaggi posted a challenge on Instagram, asking participants to vibe to a song. Carter Efe's enthusiastic participation not only earned him the first position but also a PS5, which he later sold for N300,000. This marked a turning point as he decided to stay in Lagos, utilizing the funds to cover transport expenses for skit shoots while staying with a friend.
His resilience and determination eventually paid off, propelling Carter Efe from a humble tailor in Delta State to a prominent figure in Nigeria's entertainment industry, showcasing the power of talent and passion in the face of challenges.
