In a recent interview with ABC, popular musician Asake opened up about his childhood days and how his career as a singer began. Asake revealed that before he became a singer, he used to be a dancer. He explained that he was exposed to music at an early age by his classical-music-loving parents who used to play records in their home.
Asake spoke about his love for dancing and admitted that he once used to be a dancer. However, he realized that dancing alone wouldn’t be able to make him the money he desired, which led him to change careers and become a singer instead.Asake said, “Maybe because I know how to dance then I know how to bounce on music. I actually don’t want to be a musician in the first place. I just wanted to dance. It feels like water. I love everything that comes with dancing. But at the end of the day, after dancing, I fell in love with having money too. Then I started thinking about it, is dance going to give me the kind of money I want?”
Asake explained that his parents' love for music inspired him to pursue a career in the music industry. He said, “My parents used to play me a lot of classical songs. They love listening to songs. The kind of father I have is the one that will wake up in the morning and have one cigarette then loud music.”
Asake's story is a testament to the fact that sometimes, we have to make tough decisions to achieve our goals. In his case, he had to let go of his passion for dancing and pursue a career in music to achieve financial stability. His story is a source of inspiration for many who may be facing similar challenges in their pursuit of their dreams.
