Nigerian singers, Falz and Vector, have recently released a new song titled “Mr. Yakubu”. The song ridicules Mahmood Yakubu, who is the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The lyrics of the song suggest that the INEC chairman was involved in fraudulent activities during the recently concluded general election.
In addition to calling out the INEC chairman, Falz and Vector also included some of the excuses given by INEC for the delay in uploading the presidential results on its portal on February 25. The music video for the song also portrays some of the irregularities committed by security operatives during the election, as well as the shooting of youths during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.
The video also features a portrayal of Olukayode Ariwoola, who was the Chief Justice of Nigeria during the controversy that trailed his visit to the UK.
