Vivian speaks on independence

The 21-year-old model revealed that she has started earning her own income following the launch of her modelling career earlier this year. She emphasized that people’s assumptions about her wealth, largely influenced by her father’s billionaire status, are often inaccurate and need clarification.

“I’m financially independent. I’m making money now. Pre-Teen Vogue cover, no. People have a lot of assumptions, and you just kinda have to deal with that,” Wilson stated during the summit, highlighting the distinction between fame and actual earnings.

Clarifying misconceptions

Wilson, who made headlines earlier this year by gracing the cover of Teen Vogue in March, made it clear that despite her growing public profile, she has not profited from fame itself. “I haven’t made any money from being famous at all. I have made zero dollars and zero cents. I do live in a lot of people’s heads rent-free, though,” she said, addressing widespread misconceptions about her financial status.

She added that while modelling has provided professional opportunities and a platform to showcase her talents, she has also considered alternative career paths, such as Twitch streaming or reality television, with reality TV still remaining a long-term dream for her. “Reality TV is definitely something I’d consider, it’s a way to reach new audiences and express myself creatively,” she noted.

Life beyond Musk’s wealth

Earlier this month, Wilson spoke to The Cut about managing her personal finances, explaining that she lives with roommates as a strategy to save money and maintain financial discipline. She stressed that despite her famous parentage, she does not enjoy unlimited access to her father’s wealth and is focused on building her own independent financial foundation.

She pointed out that while her mother is wealthy and her father is a billionaire, she does not intend to rely on inherited wealth and has no desire to be “super-rich” like Musk, emphasizing her goal of self-sufficiency and professional growth.

The young model, who made her runway debut in May at a RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars event, has continued to actively pursue her career in drag performances and fashion shows. Wilson frequently shares her experiences and achievements online, connecting with fans and inspiring others to pursue independence and authenticity in their personal and professional lives.

Her statements at the Teen Vogue Summit underline a broader narrative of young individuals seeking to establish themselves outside the shadows of prominent families, proving that talent, dedication, and determination are key drivers of success, independent of familial wealth.
