The sister of the well-known musician, Naira Marley, who goes by the name Shubomi, has voiced her distress over his detention upon his return to Nigeria, alleging that it constitutes a violation of his human rights.
Earlier this month, the police ordered Naira Marley and Sam Larry to be remanded in custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Mohbad.
A significant portion of the Nigerian population is actively demanding justice for the late Mohbad, particularly in light of the singer's mysterious demise and mounting evidence implicating his former boss, Naira Marley, in repeated instances of bullying.
This situation has evidently deeply affected the sister of the musician, prompting her to speak out on her Instagram story, where she perceives his detention as an attempt to placate public opinion.
In her own words: "
Keeping someone who voluntarily returned to assist in detention for nearly 30 days, without any charges, evidence, or sufficient witnesses, is a clear violation of his human rights. Detaining him simply to appease social media and the online community is unreasonable."
"If you have evidence against him for any of the accusations, then charge him! But if you don't, then release him. There's no reason for the investigation to take this long."
"We all want the truth! We all want justice. What's causing the delay? We've already lost one person, and trying to condemn another won't bring about justice😔."
Despite the acknowledgment that divine intervention plays a role, Shubomi hopes that nobody else has to endure being falsely accused of a crime they didn't commit, while advocating for the hashtag #freenairamarley.
