Backlashes have continued to trail the viral moment Nigerian socialites, Davido and Cubana Chief Priest, were spotted meeting with veteran Nollywood actors Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme, popularly known as Aki and Paw Paw, at a high-profile wedding event.
The glamorous wedding, which took place over the weekend, attracted notable Nigerian celebrities, dignitaries, and entertainment industry veterans. Among those in attendance were the beloved Nollywood stars, Osita Iheme and his longtime colleague, Chinedu Ikedieze, who have both become cultural icons through their legendary movie roles spanning over two decades.

In a clip shared by Cubana Chief Priest on his Instagram page, Osita Iheme is seen walking over to greet the music star Davido, the nightlife promoter, and their companions, shaking hands warmly. Another part of the video captured Chinedu Ikedieze engaging with Cubana Chief Priest and Davido while they remained seated during the exchange.
Debate over respect for Nollywood legends
The video, which has since gone viral, sparked heated debate online, as many Nigerians pointed out that Davido and Cubana Chief Priest should have stood up to greet the veteran actors. They argued that both Aki and Paw Paw have earned legendary status in Nollywood and deserve a higher level of respect, especially in public gatherings.
Some netizens emphasized that the cultural expectation in Nigeria is for younger individuals or admirers to rise when greeting elders or icons as a sign of respect, regardless of social standing. Others, however, defended the socialites, suggesting that the setting was informal and the stars themselves did not seem offended.
