[p]Crayon, an artist signed to Mavin Records, recently revealed that he made the decision to abandon his university education in order to pursue a career in music after experiencing five unsuccessful attempts at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
[/p][p]In an interview with Hip TV, Crayon shared that during his fifth UTME attempt at the University of Lagos, he walked out of the examination hall halfway through the paper, indicating his growing disillusionment with the academic path he had been pursuing.
[/p][p]Crayon explained that it was during this time that he crossed paths with a friend named Baby Fresh, who was already involved in the music industry. Baby Fresh became a source of inspiration for Crayon, encouraging him to embrace his passion for music and make the necessary sacrifices, even if it meant leaving his university studies behind.
[/p][p]"On the fifth try, I had already met Baby Fresh, who used to work at Mavin. Juggling school and music simultaneously is quite stressful in Nigeria. Music alone is demanding," Crayon shared during the interview.
[/p][p]He further revealed that he had a conversation with his parents, explaining his desire to pursue a career in music. Although his father suggested giving the fifth attempt a chance, his parents ultimately supported his decision to prioritize music if the academic path didn't work out.
[/p][p]It was during this transitional period that Crayon had the opportunity to meet Don Jazzy, the renowned music producer and founder of Mavin Records, who eventually signed him to the record label, providing him with a platform to launch his music career.
