In a now trending video, the outspoken corper explained that many of the struggles young Nigerians face today are wrongly attributed to spiritual forces, whereas the reality is rooted in economic hardship and systemic challenges within the country.

According to her, the common belief that family curses, “village people,” or unseen spiritual forces are the cause of delays and setbacks is misleading and keeps many trapped in a cycle of dependency on prayer alone. She stressed that the harsh economy, lack of opportunities, and poor governance are the real issues holding Nigerian youths back from achieving success.

Corper Raye said …

“I stopped going to church because I realized that my problem was not a spiritual problem but an economic one. It was more about the kind of country I grew up in. You are not cursed. Nothing is wrong with you. Your family doesn’t have any curse. Your village people have not had any effect on you. The only thing making you slow as an average youth is because you are literally growing up in an economy that makes things five times harder for an average person to succeed. I used to make a lot of naive videos until one day I woke up and understood that the problem is not spiritual. It is simply economic.”

She added that she still loves God and has strong faith, but she believes that the mindset of blaming ancestral curses or spiritual attacks is what truly keeps young people stagnant. Raye emphasized that the moment she shifted her perspective and accepted that her battles were tied to poverty and systemic economic difficulties, she began actively seeking practical solutions.

“The minute I changed my mindset and said there is no curse following me, I realized I needed to find a way to break out of poverty. I started finding solutions for myself. To break out of this economic trap, you have to think outside the box. Stop depending on the idea that it is your father’s side or mother’s side holding you back. That mindset is the actual curse,” she explained.

Her bold take has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media. While some praised her for speaking the truth about the real struggles young people face, others criticized her for abandoning church and downplaying spiritual battles.
