Charly Boy stated that he used to admire Ortom due to his previous criticisms of former President Muhammadu Buhari, but his opinion has changed. He expressed his surprise at discovering that Ortom's actions were worse than those of Buhari. Taking to Twitter, Charly Boy wrote, "See as Ortom go fall my hand. How come they discovered over 30 cars in your garage? What are you using them for? Are you the only one who wants to own and ride 30 cars? This is pure madness. I used to like you a little when you joined us in criticizing Buhari, but I didn't know you were more messed up. I hope you paid off all the salaries you owed before leaving. You really disappointed me."

In recent events, the Asset Recovery Committee, established by Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, conducted a raid on an automobile shop owned by former Governor Samuel Ortom in Makurdi, the state capital. During the operation, several vehicles were seized, with the committee resorting to using towing vans when attempts to drive the vehicles away failed.

Bemgba Iortyom, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, criticized the committee's actions, describing them as "a shameful showing of naked tyranny and impunity." He further stated, "Earlier today, thugs accompanied by security agents purporting to be on an assets recovery mission raided a private automobile workshop owned by the former governor's business concern, Oracle Nig. Ltd., carting away motor vehicles at the premises of the workshop. Staff of the workshop have confirmed to PDP that the vehicles, of a yet-to-be-ascertained number, were those brought there for repairs by private owners and are not in any way from a public source. PDP notes that this is yet another manifestation of disregard for the rule of law by the Benue State Governor, considering there is a subsisting court order barring his government from tampering with the assets of the former governor, specifically motor vehicles."
