Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, a Nigerian musician who has won a Grammy award, recently revealed the reason behind his decision to transition from a promising football career to pursuing music. He shared this insight during a conversation with Julie Adenuga, a British-Nigerian media personality.
According to Burna Boy, he possessed considerable skills as a goalkeeper in football, but he didn't find fulfillment in that position as he felt insignificant. He expressed, "I love football. I was good at playing football but the wickedest thing was that I was good at goalkeeping. That's why I just stopped because [goalkeeping] was dead. I didn't feel so important. I just didn't feel like I was needed like that. I felt like without me the team will still be alright. I don't want to spend my life like that."
Since his transition, Burna Boy has achieved significant success in the music industry. He has released five studio albums, commencing with his debut single 'Like To Party' in 2011. In 2021, his fourth studio album, 'Twice As Tall,' made history as the first and only Nigerian album to win a Grammy award.
