[p]Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he was deported from Dubai due to an unmatching appearance on his passport. During an interview on Toke Makinwa's podcast, Bobrisky disclosed that he had worn a significant amount of makeup when he arrived at Immigration, causing the officers to question his identity.
[/p][p]Bobrisky explained that due to the Islamic laws in Dubai that prohibit cross-dressing, he was sent back to Nigeria upon his arrival at the airport. This was despite the fact that he had travelled to the United Arab Emirates on several occasions in the past. However, on that particular day, which happened to be a Jumʿah day, he was deported.
[/p]Bobrisky's Account of the Incident
[p]According to Bobrisky, the incident occurred when he arrived at Immigration and had to take a picture with the camera. He stated that the camera rejected his face several times, which led to the officers questioning whether he was the same person on the passport. When they looked at his passport, they were confused because his appearance did not match the picture.
[/p][p]Afterwards, the officers took him to a private office and asked if he was transgender or cross-dressing. Bobrisky responded by saying that he used to be a guy. They told him that on a normal day, they would have allowed him into the country, but because it was a Jumʿah day, they couldn't let him in due to the strict Islamic laws in Dubai that prohibit cross-dressing.
[/p][p]Bobrisky expressed disappointment at the incident, but said that he has no ill feelings towards the UAE as a country. He acknowledged that he was aware of the laws in Dubai, but he did not expect to be deported on that day. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic and continues to pursue his dreams as a social media influencer and entrepreneur.
