Singer, Burna Boy, took to his Instagram story to express his frustration about racism from fellow black people who want to see their race "divided and conquered." In his lengthy note, Burna Boy lamented the discrimination he received from an individual who misquoted his words. He emphasized the importance of appreciating one's roots just as much as praising America. Burna Boy ranted about his words being misunderstood while preaching for brotherhood amongst Africans worldwide.
Without putting a name to the lengthy note, Burna Boy expressed himself without holding back. He stated, "It's sad to see that in 2023 there are still such black people who would prefer we stay divided and conquered. Maybe it's my accent or something, but I never said you are African and not American. I also did not say Africa is part of Heaven. You deserve all the land and reparations you want from America, and I'm 100% in support of that. All I've ever done is try to make you understand that you have Africa too that loves you, and I believe coming together as brothers and sisters is the only way forward for us black people worldwide. You work against the progress of our people worldwide if your goal is to keep us divided."
Burna Boy's message was clear; unity is crucial for the progress of black people worldwide, and those who work against it only hinder the growth of the race. He called for an end to discrimination and urged black people to embrace their roots and appreciate the love and support they receive from both Africa and America. Burna Boy's message is one that resonates with many, and it serves as a reminder that unity is the key to progress.
