Nigerian social activist, VeryDarkMan, has shared an inspiring account of the first and only time he met the renowned founder of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, who has made a remarkable donation of ₦100 million to his newly launched Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). This generous contribution aims to support transformative initiatives within Nigeria’s public education system, ensuring that students receive a solid educational foundation enhanced by modern tools and resources.
It is worth noting that VeryDarkMan unveiled his NGO on Saturday, emphasizing its mission to revolutionize the educational landscape in Nigeria. The organization is committed to addressing the numerous challenges faced by public schools and aims to uplift the quality of education available to children across the country.
Following the launch of the NGO, a remarkable amount of over ₦35 million was raised within the first 24 hours. Shortly after, Don Jazzy’s significant contribution of ₦100 million came as a tremendous boost to the cause, underscoring his commitment to enhancing the educational opportunities for public school students.
In an emotional Instagram post shared on Thursday, VeryDarkMan expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the music mogul for his generous donation. He highlighted that this financial support is rooted in Don Jazzy’s belief in the humanitarian goals of the project, which is dedicated to improving educational access and quality for children in public schools.
“Let it be known that on the 16th of October 2024, this man named Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy donated 100 million to give public school kids advanced education with the aim to give them a good educational foundation,” he wrote, showcasing the impact of Don Jazzy’s philanthropy in supporting the community.
Despite the vast difference in their celebrity statuses, VeryDarkMan elaborated on the limited nature of their interaction, stating that Don Jazzy believed in the importance of his work. The two had only met once, during which they briefly shook hands without engaging in an extensive conversation. VeryDarkMan reflected on this moment, saying, “I and him met once, shook hands and that was it. We no even talk for 1 minute ooo, no be say he know my background or anything.” This anecdote highlights the genuine nature of Don Jazzy’s support, rooted in a desire to help others rather than personal familiarity.
