A young mother has broken the Guinness World Record after giving birth to nine healthy babies at once. Halima Cissé, a Malian mother, and her husband, Abdelkader Arby, welcomed the nonuplets on May 4, 2021. The Guinness World Record confirms that this is the first known instance of a woman giving birth to nine babies at once. Doctors initially believed Halima would deliver seven babies, but two more were discovered when she was transferred to Ain Borja Clinic in Morocco for specialized care. The nonuplets were delivered prematurely via caesarean section during the 30th week of Halima's pregnancy. The babies, consisting of five girls and four boys, have been named Adama, Oumou, Hawa, Kadidia, Fatouma, Oumar, Elhadji, Bah, and Mohammed VI. After their stay in Morocco, the children and their mother have returned to Mali. The Malian government provided support for the mother's care and arranged for her to be flown to Morocco while she was pregnant. Abdelkader Arby, the father, acknowledges that raising the children is challenging but expresses faith that Allah will assist them in their upbringing and care. The couple already had a 3-year-old daughter prior to the birth of the nonuplets. The extraordinary birth has garnered global attention, with many marveling at the mother's ability to carry and deliver nine babies simultaneously.
