Woman in Nigeria delivers quadruplets following an 11-year wait

A 37-year-old woman named Mrs. Faniyi, who resides in Nigeria, has given birth to a set of quadruplets after eleven years of being married. The news of the birth was made known through the official Facebook page of General Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos state on Saturday, February 25th.

The hospital, sharing photos of the new mother and her newborns, announced the exciting news, saying that the delivery of the Faniyi quads was carried out via a caesarean section. The operation was conducted by a team of medical professionals, which included Obstetricians, Paediatricians, Anaesthesiologists, and Perioperative Nurses, all led by Dr. Femi Aletan, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, and Dr. Dehinde Akinlolu.

The set of quadruplets were all female, and they weighed in at 2.45kg, 2.25kg, 1.7kg, and 2kg respectively. The babies were delivered at a gestational age of 34 weeks and 3 days, with all four of them being born within 10 minutes of each other on Friday, February 17, 2023. The first baby arrived at 12:20pm. All of the babies are in good health and doing well.

The hospital's Facebook post also stated that Mrs. Faniyi had waited for 11 long years before the delivery of her set of quadruplets, and as such, she is "filled with immense joy" at their arrival. The new mother and her husband, Mr. Faniyi, have been congratulated on the arrival of their four beautiful baby girls.

Accompanying the announcement were several heartwarming photos of Mrs. Faniyi and her newborns, which have been shared widely on social media platforms.
