Following the recent collapse of a seven-story building under construction in Banana Island, Lagos, one of the bricklayers who miraculously survived the incident has shared his story. The bricklayer, Mr. Dike Ikenna, recounted how he walked out of the rubble without a scratch.
In narrating his experience, Mr. Ikenna credited his survival to God, stating that he anoints himself every day before going out to work. He disclosed that he was on the 7th floor when the collapse occurred. According to him, he heard a deafening noise, and one side of the building collapsed first. He said he was with one of his colleagues, and they struggled to get out of the building but could not jump or run out. He was only shouting Jesus when he found himself on the ground covered in dust.
While some of the victims of the building collapse were taken to hospitals due to the severity of their injuries and doctors pulling them out of the jaws of death, Mr. Ikenna expressed gratitude to God that he was able to walk out of the rubble unscathed.
The collapse of the building in Banana Island has raised concerns about the safety standards of buildings under construction in Nigeria. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse, and appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that such an incident does not occur again.
