The agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, reported that Mr. Celestino was travelling with a Guinean international passport as a business class passenger on a Qatar Airlines flight to India. According to preliminary investigation, Mr. Celestino frequently travels to India on business class tickets and claims to be involved in a clothing business between Nigeria and India. It was also discovered that he obtained his Guinean international passport in Guinea Bissau, where he stated that his mother was from.

The NDLEA shared a video of the seizure on Twitter, which showed the bags containing the heroin being searched and the drugs being recovered.

The NDLEA has been cracking down on drug trafficking in Nigeria, and this seizure is yet another example of their efforts to stem the flow of illegal drugs in and out of the country.
