The countries Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be playing in the 2023 Women’s World Cup which is jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, have been unveiled.
The Super Falcons will be playing co-hosts Australia, Canada, and the Republic of Ireland in Group B of the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals happening in the summer of next year.
At the draw event held yesterday in Auckland/Tâmaki Makaurau, the Nigerian female national team was picked to play its first match of the competition against Canada at a yet-to-be-named venue.
A total of nine cities (five in Australia and four in New Zealand) will host 32 teams, which is the biggest in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since it began in China in 1991.
Nigeria, alongside USA, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Japan are the only seven countries to have featured in all previous editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, between China in 1991 and France in 2019.
In each group, the top two teams advances to the round of 16.

Group A: New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Switzerland
Group B: Australia, Republic of Ireland, Nigeria, Canada
Group C: Spain, Costa Rica, Zambia, Japan
Group D: England, Senegal/Haiti/Chile, Denmark, China
Group E: USA, Vietnam, Netherlands, Cameroon/Thailand/Portugal
Group F: France, Jamaica, Brazil, Chinese Taipei/Paraguay/PNG/Panama
Group G: Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Argentina
Group H: Germany, Morocco, Colombia, Korea Republic
