The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today, 22nd September 2020.
Also receiving the Return Certificate from the Electoral umpire, is the Deputy Governor of the State, Hon. Philip Shaibu.
Obaseki emerged victorious after contesting in an election last Saturday and defeating his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Kemi Filani News reported how Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 307,955 votes to defeat Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate, who got 223,619 votes.
Even though the APC at the national level and President Muhammadu Buhari have congratulated Obaseki on his victory, separately, the APC in Edo is keen on contesting the outcome of the election, has rejected the results.
