On March 20, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the Lagos state governorship election. Shortly after his victory was announced, Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke about his re-election, acknowledging Lagosians' support and thanking them for the opportunity to serve them once again.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended his fellow contestants for their participation in the democratic process, extending a hand of fellowship to them. He emphasized that no one was a victor or a vanquished, and if any of them believed in serving Lagos state, his administration would listen and give them a space in his government.

Furthermore, Governor Sanwo-Olu criticized the divisive rhetoric that marred the campaign leading up to the election, stating that it did not define Lagosians. He urged Lagosians to come together, rebuild their capacity, competence, and experience to make Lagos state even better than it currently is. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that religion and ethnicity should not be the things that divide the people of Lagos.
