Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh has expressed her admiration for fellow actress Funke Akindele, applauding her for standing up for Lagos State during the recent elections. Dikeh and her running mate, Tonte Ibraye, had stepped down from their governorship and deputy governorship positions a few days before the elections to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite this setback, Dikeh took to social media to express her gratitude to her supporters and admirers for their unwavering support and to assure them that she would not give up on her political aspirations.

Dikeh, who ran for the deputy governorship position under the platform of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), thanked her family, the people of Rivers State, and her supporters for their belief in her and promised to continue fighting for them. She also extended her gratitude to the members and volunteers of her organization, @cymsnigeria, for their support and presence throughout the campaign.

In her social media post, Dikeh emphasized the importance of integrity in politics and urged women to support each other, regardless of their political affiliations. She acknowledged the difficulty of participating in politics as a woman and praised Akindele for pushing her way through the political structures that often favor men.

Dikeh acknowledged that she may have offended some people during the course of her campaign and asked for their forgiveness. She concluded her post by urging everyone to prioritize the peace and prosperity of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole and emphasized the importance of unity and development for the country's progress. She signed off as "Her Excellency, Amb Tonto Dikeh, ADC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Rivers State" and declared that she was not giving up.
