Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid, has come under heavy criticism for promoting his upcoming tour on social media just few hours to the general elections in Nigeria. Wizkid took to his [a href="https://www.instagram.com/yabaleftonline"]Instagram[/a] page, which has over 16 million followers, to share a poster of his ‘More Love, Less Ego’ tour set to kick off on March 3rd. However, many people were offended by his post and accused him of promoting his show at such a crucial time, and also for keeping quiet about the election. This led to netizens calling him out for being disrespectful to the election process in Nigeria.
It should be recalled that Wizkid had previously dragged his junior colleague, Reekado Banks, for promoting their joint project during the #ENDSARS Protest and called him a ‘fool’ and a ‘clout animal’. This led to many people calling Wizkid out for being hypocritical, as he is now doing the same thing he criticized Reekado Banks for.
Netizens have trooped to Wizkid's comment section to lambaste him for being two-faced and for his lackadaisical attitude towards the presidential election. Some people have accused him of not using his platform to speak up for the country during this critical period.
In another development, a Nigerian man has angrily unfollowed Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy for keeping mute about the election. In a video making rounds online, the man berated the three biggest Afrobeats singers in Nigeria for failing to speak up and sensitize their followers about the general elections holding today, February 25. He accused them of not caring about Nigeria and the well-being of its citizens.
