Another tragic event in the South African, rapper Costa Titch has reportedly passed away. The artiste collapsed while performing at the Ultra music festival on Saturday, 12 March 2023, according to sources. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela confirmed the news of Costa Titch’s death on Twitter just before midnight, and fellow industry colleagues have since expressed their sombre reactions.
Among those who have referenced the rapper’s passing are fellow musician Junior Da Rocka and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema. The news of Costa Titch’s passing comes as music fans are still grieving the loss of fellow rapper AKA, who was shot outside a restaurant in Durban by unknown assailants. The South African Police Service (SAPS) are still investigating the case. Interestingly, both Costa Titch and AKA had collaborated on a song called Super Soft.
Costa Titch was known for his amapiano single, Big Flexa, which was released in December 2021. The track features Alfa Kat, Banaba Des, Sdida, Man T and C’buda M, and became the most viewed Amapiano video in late 2022, with 30.7 million views on YouTube. In the song’s music video, the rapper showcases his impeccable dancing skills with Soweto’s Finest, a local dance group. The video also gained popularity on Spotify and TikTok, with the track accumulating more than six million listens on Spotify and being used more than 105,000 times on TikTok.
