AKA's mother mourns the rapper

Lynn Forbes, the mother of South African rapper [Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes], has shared a tribute to her late son, two weeks after he was killed in Durban.

On February 24, 2023, Forbes took to Instagram to post a photo of herself standing over her son's casket at his funeral, which was held the previous weekend. In the caption, she expressed her grief, stating that the last two weeks have been surreal, especially the mornings. She described waking up every morning and being reminded that the nightmare would never end as the most excruciating pain she had ever felt. She also expressed her love for her son and the shattered state of her heart.
AKA was killed two weeks earlier in an alleged hit outside Wish restaurant in Florida Road. His former manager and long-time friend, Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane, was also killed in the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection to the murders to date. Meanwhile, Police Minister Bheki Cele announced that Brigadier Vele Cele has been appointed to head up the murder investigation. Cele was instrumental in tracking down Luyanda Botha within 10 days following the murder of 19-year-old UCT student Mrwetyana.
Forbes shared another photo of AKA on her Instagram page, expressing her love for him and her sadness at his untimely death. AKA's death has shocked the music industry in South Africa, with many expressing their condolences and paying tribute to the late rapper.
