The news of Lance Reddick's death came as a surprise to many and has since sparked an outpouring of condolences and tributes to the accomplished actor on social media.

David Simon, creator of The Wire, expressed his sadness in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, stating, "A consummate professional, a devoted collaborator, a lovely soul and a friend. This is just gutting and way, way, way too soon for any of us who knew and loved him to contemplate."

Wendell Pierce, Reddick's co-star in The Wire, paid tribute to the late actor in a heartfelt tweet, "A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP."

In addition to his remarkable performances in The Wire and John Wick franchise, Reddick also appeared in sci-fi series Fringe and action thriller White House Down. He was scheduled to appear in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4 and had been doing interviews for the film, but did not attend the New York premiere earlier this week.

Reddick's most notable role was playing Baltimore police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in HBO’s crime drama The Wire, a show that featured a predominantly black cast and was widely praised for its authentic portrayal of inner-city life. Reddick's talent and versatility as an actor will be deeply missed by his fans and colleagues alike.
